November updates
Welcome to a detailed breakdown of what I did in SGA in the month of November.

*Dining initiative in collaboration with Senator Sumire Sumi. big shoutout to her!
Topic: Dining services improvement
in person inquiries and email exchanges with communication director Brianna Williams
What I worked with dining services to accomplish:
-
Improve grilled chicken quality: Campus Executive Chef and team altered cooking methods by using smaller batch preparation and revising recipes to address dryness and rubbery texture.
-
Address slow restocking at buffet stations: Adjust food preparation to match guest flow and implement batch cooking during peak times.
-
Enhance staff-student interactions at FFC: Conduct secret shopper programs and ongoing staff training to address concerns about hostility and improve staff behavior.
-
Reform meal plan structure: Dining services will collect feedback through focus groups and surveys.
Topic: 9 credit DEI requirement removal
11/12, 11/19 senate meetings
What I did:
Removed 9 credit DEI requirement because of the insane course load imposed on us already under the Foundational Abilities system. Voted to pass the amended resolution.

Topic: Accountability in SGA

11/19 senate meeting
What I did:
Pointed out that the meeting minutes on the SGA linktree are outdated, preventing the student body from exercising oversight over SGA. Advocated for the inclusion of up to date meeting minutes or the re-establishment of the publications director to breakdown the work happening in SGA to the public
Topic: FA advising workshop
11/13, 11/20 committee meetings
What I did:
Discussed the benefits and limitations of a foundational abilities advising workshop in the academic affairs committee. Contacted advisor regarding resources the advising office has and the possibility of hosting a FA advising workshop to help students plan out courses.
***We will not forget the trampling of our academic freedom and we must fight for FA reform with every means at our disposal. This is an immediate damage-control measure, not the solution we should be content with.
